ABOUT

Haʻalau was formed during the peak of covid in 2020. Four hoa, Piʻilani Kalī, Manoa Johansen, Shari Frias, and me, Babes - came together with the same ʻiʻini to create when isolating for safety was a high priority. We figured, why not make use of our extended time at home! Haʻalau became our inspirational platform and safe, collective space to showcase our handmade and homemade products but also a reason for us to get together, launa, and share ideas!

Life and kuleana took us away from Haʻalau but fast forward to 2025, life has allowed me the time to jump back into my creative space and start making again and hopefully soon for my hoa as well!

BABES/KONOHIA

My ʻohana is originally from Waimānalo, Oʻahu, but I was born and raised in Hilo. Iʻm a mom to a very talkative 6 year old. Iʻm the muli to my 4 sisters (hence the nickname, Babe (Babes to most)). Iʻm an ʻōlapa with Unulau and, professionally, Iʻm a Cultural Researcher for a private archaeology firm. When Iʻm not doing any of the above, Iʻm at home creating, or out playing pool, or on a trip :) In a nutshell, I love my kid, good company, and live music. Hula is the truth and my favorite is yo eleven!
